Who we are?

Initiatives Conseil International Santé (ICI-Santé) is providing Technical Assistance to drive innovative and sustainable public health solutions.

ICI-Santé was established in 2012 and is based on the belief that it is vital to develop and strengthen Africa regional expertise in the field of health, to bring it to the highest level of excellence to benefit the health of Africa.

ICI-Santé is a renowned expert in sustainable health system strengthening for Africa and participates in high level health sector reform and decision-making bodies at global, regional, national and local levels

With headquarters in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), ICI-Santé works throughout the continent and has representations in Mali, Niger, Nigeria, and Chad.

Our Unique Approach

ICI-Santé is part of the socio-economic and cultural fabric of Africa. We leverage this insight to create practical, culturally appropriate, and economically viable solutions that equally drive improvement and accountability.

ICI-Santé mobilizes local & international experts in all relevant disciplines to solve major public health challenges in Africa. We implement thousands of people and days of technical support on the ground annually.

ICI-Santé ensures full participation of stakeholders, notably vulnerable populations, in every phase of our work. We mainstream gender, human rights, and sustainability in everything we do.

ICI-Santé develops original interventions and programs in public health areas with little or no coverage in Africa. Our scale and scope enable impact when and where it is needed.

Dr Jean-Baptiste GUIARD-SCHMID

Managing Director

Specialist in Internal Medicine, Infectious and Tropical Diseases and Public Health, Jean-Baptiste Guiard-Schmid has a solid international expertise in the field of Communicable Diseases (HIV, TB, Malaria, Hepatitis), Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health / Sexual and Reproductive Health, Health Systems Strengthening and Non-Communicable Diseases in Africa.

Its expertise covers strategic planning, resource mobilization, design, implementation, management and monitoring and evaluation of health policies, programmes and projects in these areas, as well as operational research. For more than 20 years, he has been working to develop high-level African technical assistance in public health, committed to a holistic and sustainable approach to health systems strengthening that fully engages communities and health users. By strengthening the capacity of stakeholders, including beneficiary populations, in responding to major public health challenges.

After 5 years at WHO as Regional Advisor for West Africa, he founded in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) in 2012 Initiatives Conseil International-Santé (ICI-Santé). He is a citizen of France and Burkina Faso.
